Given the company's strong progress to date, PepsiCo also announced a new commitment to provide access to safe water to an additional three million people over the next three years through continued partnerships with water organizations, doubling the company's original goal.

Pepsi has unveiled a new single-serve bottle for its Pepsi trademark portfolio including Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi MAX and Pepsi NEXT, marking its first design update since 1996. A visual expression of the brand's Excitement of Now positioning, the bottle is rolling out in markets nationwide starting in April in 16-ounce and 20-ounce packaging, with full conversion taking a few years.
Portola Packaging, Inc. is announcing a $12 million capital expenditure in its Kingsport, TN and Tolleson, AZ facilities. The investment is being made to accommodate growing market demand for its hot-fill and aseptic beverage closures and increased dairy business market share.
The recycling of rigid plastics, excluding bottles, climbed 13% in 2011 to reach at least 934 million pounds for the year, and U.S. consumers with local access to recycle all non-bottle rigid plastics shot from 40% to 57% between 2011 and 2012, according to a pair of reports released today at the Plastics Recycling Conference.
