Exopack, Britton Group, Kobusch, PACCOR and Paragon companies join forces

Five leading packaging companies in North America and Europe announced they intend to combine in order to operate as one global leader under the banner of Exopack Holdings Sarl, a new Luxembourg company. The combined business will have 63 plants, 8,650 employees and aggregate revenues of more than US$2.5B, making it the sixth-largest plastics packaging company in the world.
Plans include an additional 15,000 square feet of space, new equipment and over a dozen new jobs.

Constantia Flexibles – a global corporation that develops, manufactures and supplies flexible packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, food and beverage markets – announceplans to invest $12 million to expand its main U.S. manufacturing facility in Blythewood, South Carolina. Slated for completion in autumn of this year, the project will add 15,000 square feet of factory floor space to house several new pieces of packaging equipment and more than a dozen new employees.
Packaging veteran will oversee each of OYSTAR USA’s industry focuses.

In his new role, Panaseny will spearhead North American business and market development across the multiple industries served by OYSTAR USA. In doing so, he will oversee everything from team-building and sales goal-setting to strategic partnerships and company visibility at packaging industry conferences and events.

Stäubli Robotics, a leading innovator in robotic automation, has partnered with Minnesota-based Werner Electric to make Stäubli robots and robotic components, as well as the support of a Stäubli-trained local sales network, available throughout the region.
BEUMER Group celebrated the official opening of the new factory building in Thailand, located in the eastern Chachoengsao Province. In a festive ceremony, the German ambassador Rolf Schulze congratulated BEUMER on completion of the construction and praised the commitment shown by the Beckum-based family company in the Kingdom of Thailand. The newly built premises covering 2,000 square meters will allow BEUMER to increase its production for the Asian market. Dr. Christoph Beumer, Chairman and CEO of BEUMER Group GmbH & Co. KG, emphasised that the success of the project should be greatly attributed to the close cooperation of the Beckum and Thailand teams across borders and continents.
World Packaging Organization announced that the entries for WorldStar Packaging Awards 2014 are open and will close on September 27, 2013. Considered the most important global packaging award, the WorldStar is based on the judges’ consensus that a pack is superior in its own right and better in its class, in execution, or innovation by comparison. The judges consider the following criteria: protection and preservation of contents; ease of handling, filling, opening and closing; adequacy of information; sales appeal; graphic design; quality of production; economy of material and cost reduction; environment; ingenuity of construction; and adaption to local conditions
(production, materials, market etc).

A strengthening economy and less volatile input pricing could result in a positive year for the foodservice packaging industries in North America and Europe, based on an annual survey conducted by the Foodservice Packaging Institute, the industry’s leading authority.
