Pregis LLC has joined the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. The alliance has a $1.5 billion investment goal over the next five years to help end plastic waste in the environment.
Over the past decade, Pregis has shown its commitment to the environment by developing both plastic and 100% recycled content paper-based protective packaging solutions that minimize reliance on natural resources. These include incorporating increasing amounts of recycled content into the products as well as innovative film designs that reduce the amount of resins to achieve high performance.
“Our vision at Pregis not only underscores a commitment to protective packaging, but also to a higher purpose which is rooted in sustainability and supporting communities across the globe,” said Kevin Baudhuin, president and CEO of Pregis. “Joining the Alliance to End Plastic Waste provides us with a unique opportunity to collaborate with passionate, like-minded thought leaders eager to create positive change for the planet. This platform will allows us to be an integral part of solving a complex challenge.”
Pregis partnered with How2Recycle to provide consumer-friendly recycling instructions printed onto film based products to increase adoption. The company is also teaching customers how to prevent damage through the shipping and fulfillment cycles to avoid unnecessary environmental burdens.
As a vertically integrated film supplier, Pregis works closely with suppliers to source quality recycled resins and operates their facilities with a zero waste goal. Recapturing recycled materials is one of the gaps within the plastics life cycle that the members of the Alliance are working to solve. By bringing together the entire plastics value chain, the Alliance will apply the expertise of each sector, the collective resources and reach of companies from around the world, and insights from those that operate in the regions where the challenge is greatest.
