Tetra Pak launches industry’s first package made entirely from plant based, renewable packaging materials

The new Tetra Rex carton will be the first in the market to have bio-based low-density polyethylene films and bio-based high-density polyethylene caps, both derived from sugar cane, in addition to Forest Stewardship Council certified paperboard.
Tetra Pak is working with Kingfisher and IKEA to promote the benefits of legal, responsibly sourced, sustainable timber and clarify the role of Forest Stewardship Council certification in the delivery of these values.
Beloved for their light weight, eco-friendly profile and shelf-safe convenience, aseptic cartons, first developed for shelf-safe dairy products in 1961, have dominated store shelves in much of Europe, Asia and Central and South Americas for nearly half a century.
