Pretium Packaging, a leading North American manufacturer of rigid plastic containers and closures, has acquired Starplex Scientific Inc., Toronto, Ont., Canada from Apotex Corp. The Starplex acquisition supports Pretium’s growth objectives in the medical and consumer healthcare market sectors. 

Starplex Scientific has built product lines including leak-resistant sterilized containers, biological sampling swabs and pharmaceutical-grade containers and closures. Its products serve the clinical, laboratory and drug manufacturing markets in the United States and Canada. 

Products are produced from ISO13485-certified operations in Toronto and Cleveland, Tennessee. In keeping with Pretium’s ongoing acquisition philosophy, existing employees and the Starplex Scientific brand will be retained.
