Monadnock Paper Mills Inc. has announced the release of the fourth edition of its renowned instructional how-to guide for creating more sustainable print materials. The publication, A Field Guide: Eco-Friendly, Efficient and Effective Print, objectively details sourcing and design options that impact sustainability.
Responsible sourcing is a critical component of any sustainability initiative. The guide was created to help marketers consider the context of their business operations and to align their design and promotional activities with their environmental goals and objectives.
“Our Field Guide has become a leading industry resource for furthering sustainable decision-making in print and packaging,” says Richard Verney, Chairman and CEO of Monadnock Paper Mills. “The Fourth Edition continues Monadnock’s commitment to provide brands and marketers with the tools and knowledge to impact sustainability throughout the design and production process.”
Designed by Blossom Creative, A Field Guide is inspired by nature field guides and features the whimsical illustrations from Yenpitsu Nemoto of Tokyo, Japan. The guide presents information on papers, compliance, sizing to reduce waste, inks and coatings, finishing techniques, printing processes, the use of environmental logos and the recyclability of the finished piece. The fourth edition also includes information on health and wellbeing, materiality, making the business case for sustainability, and identifying opportunities to replace plastic with renewable wood-fiber alternatives.
“Throughout its history, Monadnock has taken its role as a steward of the environment seriously,” says Verney. “The fourth edition of A Field Guide continues that tradition.”
