Eco Lips® brand POGO™ received the highly coveted “WorldStar Award” from the World Packaging Organization for their innovative POGO lip balm product packaging. POGO was one of 21 winners worldwide within the health and beauty category. It’s the fourth design and packaging award POGO has earned since its launch earlier this year.

WorldStar Awards are given to products that display the utmost packaging innovation and help forward the work of ground-breaking design within the health and beauty industry to deliver more inimitable products to consumers. The WorldStar Award honors those packaging professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the packaging arena, recognizing their foresight and revolutionary spirit.

Eco Lips has striven to be the innovative architect under the organic personal care sector since its inception in 2003. “We’ve been looking for innovation in packaging design for a lip balm delivery system that aligns with our company ethos. It wasn’t until we were approached by a couple designers from Canada and collaborated with that that we felt we finally hit the mark. Having a container that is made from 100% post-consumer content was key as we continue to push the envelope on sustainable design and recyclability," says Steve Shriver, Eco Lips CEO.

POGO’s beautifully and thoughtfully designed packaging has certainly piqued the interest of millennials and green beauty followers alike, as they flock to bright colors and distinctive package design. “This product line directly aligns with urban, professional, female millennials who are active, social and smart, looking for more sustainable solutions that fit their everyday lifestyle. POGO allows them to make good, sexy!” says Jane Merten, VP of sales and marketing.

The POGO line includes Apricot Peach?, Iced Iced Berry, Mint Mint, Nothin’ At All (Unscented), Split Banana and True Vanilla Bean flavors. The entire line is USDA-certified organic, Fair Trade Certified™, gluten-free, cruelty-free and made with 100% renewable energy offsets.

Judging took place in Vienna, Austria, on the Nov. 17th and representatives from 21 packaging associations, members of WPO (World Packaging Organization), judged 292 packaging projects from 35 countries that applied for WorldStar Awards 2017.

The award is POGO’s fourth design and packaging honor since its summer 2016 launch. Other awards include:

  • Brand Packaging Design Gallery Awards: People’s Choice winner for the publisher’s Rigid Plastic Packaging category.
  • 2016 Ameristar Awards: Top honors in the Healthy and Beauty Aids category from the Institute of Packaging Professionals.
  • NEXTY Awards: Best New Packaging Innovation, presented by New Hope Media at its Natural Products Expo West show.
