Presto Products Company and Bemis Healthcare Packaging have collaborated to produce a new secondary packaging format for blister packs: a flexible pouch that can be used in place of the customary paperboard carton. The pouch, converted by Bemis and fitted with Presto’s CHILD-GUARD child-resistant slider closure, enables drug manufacturers to utilize relatively low-cost, non-barrier materials without the added cost of child resistance at the tablet level. In addition, the pouch offers ongoing value to protect pills stored in medicine cabinets or purses. The CHILD-GUARD slider is extremely difficult for children to open yet intuitive and easy for seniors. The pouch construction of aluminum foil-based laminated film provides moisture and oxygen barrier properties, and for alternative merchandising options, the packaging can be converted with a peg hole. www.prestoproducts.com www.bemis.com
