Tullis Russell’s SBS cartonboard range Trucard has been selected by single malt whisky specialist Morrison Bowmore for all of its leading brands. Building on a long-standing partnership with employee-owned premium paper and board manufacturer Tullis Russell, distiller Morrison Bowmore specified two of the company’s uncoated boards: Trucard 0 matt and Trucard 0 felt, for the outer box liner of the Auchentoshan, Glen Garioch, Bowmore Islay and McClelland’s brands.
“Malt whisky is a regular fixture in some of the most competitive luxury retailing across the globe," says Ian Hamilton, purchasing & packaging development manager from Morrison Bowmore. "It’s essential that we deliver premium brands with strong packaging presence which communicates the values of quality and legacy present in every drop of our malt whisky. Trucard 0 uncoated was the ideal choice for the outer packaging. It provided us with two distinctive uncoated surfaces, giving us the opportunity to subtly vary the packaging styles. Both surfaces provide an excellent print performance coupled with a high quality look and feel."
Nick Shepherd, U.K. sales director at Tullis Russell comments, “We have enjoyed a strong relationship with Morrison Bowmore over a number of years and it is really satisfying that we are keeping pace with the evolution and development of its brands with Trucard.”
“As an employee-owned company we strive to work in close partnership which means we can deliver better, faster results for our customers," he continues. "This latest endorsement is testament to what can be achieved. Much like our own business, Scottish whisky is a home grown success story which has developed important markets abroad. Malt whisky is one of the leading markets for premium packaging and is the perfect fit for Trucard. We look forward to continuing to build on our partnership with Morrison Bowmore’s brands as they go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”
Trucard offers a large range of any SBS cartonboard with a variety of surfaces weights and environmental options. The whole range, both coated and uncoated, is FSC certified with many 50 percent post-consumer waste recycled options available. The entire portfolio uses a twin-wire base, creating a true cartonboard, which guarantees outstanding bulk, stiffness and dimensional stability and is intended to deliver exceptional print and converting performance.
