For the last competition onThe Celebrity Apprentice, finalists Marlee Matlin and John Rich
were charged with developing creative marketing campaigns and ‘70s- and
‘80s-inspired package designs for 7UP Retro. Matlin created a flashy,
disco-ball themed can, complete with a TV spot featuring 7UP ad icon Geoffrey
Holder and a launch event with the Harlem Globetrotters. Rich channeled the
eighties with his zebra- striped packaging, supported by a 30-second commercial
that included Dee Snider from Twister Sister and a launch event with a
performance by Def Leppard. The contestants’ winning designs have been
reproduced on limited-edition cans that will be available at select retailers
nationwide.
