USA > Snyder's of Hanover
Snyder’s of Hanover has introduced new pretzel bags made from 90 percent plant-based, renewable PLA. The maker of the PLA claims that when compared with traditional petroleum-based packaging, the renewable materials are produced using half the energy and generate 52 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions in the manufacturing process. The company is currently testing the bags to confirm that they are compostable in an industrial, environmental setting. The bags feature a bright yellow graphic in the upper right corner, which calls out the packaging’s eco-friendly material and points consumers to the back of the package for more information on the benefits of the packaging – all while differentiating the bags on-shelf.
