Finance, human resources, and operations professionals in the folding carton industry have a unique opportunity this winter to hone their skills and grow professionally. The Paperboard Packaging Council’s (PPC) People, Paperboard, & Productivity Workshop, Feb. 19-21, 2019, in Dallas will feature keynote speakers, experiential plant tours, and multi-track breakout sessions relevant to any paperboard packaging manufacturing business.

Bill Kaiser, senior consultant at High Performing Culture, LLC—a consultancy that helps organizations build effective company cultures, will start the event off as keynote speaker. According to Kaiser, while most organizations allow their cultures to evolve organically, top-performing ones instead intentionally create and drive the culture they want to have. Kaiser will offer practical, actionable steps attendees can use to nurture high-performing cultures at their own companies.

Small breakout sessions will help operations/technical professionals will learn about best practices in sheet-fed litho, tooling and cutting, and minimizing paperboard waste. Finance employees will discuss implications of the Affordable Care Act, freight costs, and R&D tax credits. Finally, the human resources group will learn about managing generational differences, the latest in compensation strategies, and how to design purposeful performance reviews.

The People, Paperboard, & Productivity event will also get attendees out of the “classroom” and into the real world with experiential plant tours of several PPC member companies in the Dallas area. Attendees will tour Southern Champion Tray and American Carton Company—both folding carton manufacturing facilities. The event will also feature a dynamic tour of a WestRock paper mill.
