A new tea powder that comes in a recyclable aluminum shaker has launched from 10th Avenue Tea. The all-natural tea powder dissolves instantly and may be served hot or iced. It comes in four matcha flavors: Green, Black, Chai and Tropical, plus an Herbal Berry.
Ann Foley, president/cofounder of 10th Avenue Tea realized something needed to be done with beverage packaging after reading how coffee pods were overwhelming landfills. She was surprised to learn that conventional tea bags weren’t much better, at 70-80 percent biodegradable.
She shared her thoughts with Walsh, her sister-in-law (Walsh is married to Foley’s brother, actor-comedian Matt Walsh, star of Veep) and the two launched a search for a flavorful, environmentally-sound tea alternative.
The teas are also part of celebrity swag bags gifted by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The tea powders come in travel-size recyclable shaker bottles and half-pound resealable pouches and will be available at select Target stores.
