It's been a year since Quadpack Plastics (quadpack.com) was formed and a lot has happened. Adding injection molding to Quadpack's manufacturing capability has widened the company's offering, being able to either source or manufacture the right solution for its clients. Skeyndor and Germaine de Capuccini are just two of the brands now taking advantage of Quadpack Plastics' services.
Improvements in plant layout and staff amenities, health & safety measures and new equipment have all contributed towards greater efficiency at the factory, based in Castellbisbal, outside Barcelona, Spain.
What's more, a system of continuous equipment monitoring is now in use at this and other plants in the Manufacturing Division. This intelligent system captures data in real time, which facilitates production planning, allows preventive maintenance and aids efficiency analysis, as Quadpack works towards its goal of a first-class OEE (overall equipment efficiency) of at least 85%.
In terms of product offering, Quadpack Plastic's repertoire of acrylic jars have been expanded with new materials. Most notably, SMMA and Surlyn have been added for the thickness and transparency they bring to high-end jars, while PETG is a new option especially of interest to sun protection brands, thanks to its compatibility with SPF formulas.
"It has been a busy and productive first year for Quadpack Plastics. I'm proud of what we have achieved. As a manufacturer, the process of improvement is a continuous one but, right now, as we celebrate our first anniversary, we are exactly where we want to be," says Ernesto Cara, manufacturing division director.
