Putting anti-counterfeiting measures in place to protect your brands is now commonplace. Counterfeiters are getting increasingly savvy, proving that the packaging industry needs better technology and more solutions.
Global anti-counterfeiting solutions are expected to grow between a CAGR of 12.8% to 16.1% over the next five years. It’s a vicious cycle – counterfeiters take, anti-counterfeiting measures grow. The pharmaceutical sector alone was hit with $75 billion revenue in counterfeit drugs.
Brand manufacturers need to protect consumers from counterfeits, follow the latest regulations and avoid FDA sanctions and recalls. Innovations and technology that track and trace a product through the entire supply chain have become increasingly critical as a result. PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, examined this trend in depth by interviewing 75 brand manufacturers, industry experts and technology suppliers. Anti-counterfeiting and brand protection technology as well as other innovative solutions will be on display at ProFood Tech (April 4-6; McCormick Place, Chicago), powered by three of the world’s trade show leaders – PACK EXPO, Anuga and the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) – and at PACK EXPO Las Vegas (Las Vegas Convention Center; Sept. 25-27).
