Shurtape Technologies LLC (shurtape.com), a leading producer of pressure-sensitive tapes, is making it easier for students, educators, tape distributors and more to access helpful information about choosing and using pressure-sensitive tapes with the launch of its new website, TapeUniversity.com.

Currently, the site is focused on the HVAC and Packaging industries, but additional industries will be added soon. Visitors will find blog posts, videos and articles by Shurtape’s product management team, covering topics such as the differences between HVAC tape backings and adhesives, why some packaging tapes won’t stick to recycled cartons, and how tape can cause downtime on the packaging line.

The site also serves as the online home of Shurtape’s Mission: HVAC and Mission: Packaging programs. Through these programs, the company is challenging six students (three HVAC, three packaging) to complete a series of themed missions related to their areas of study. Upon completion of each challenge, the students report their findings via blog posts on the site to earn up to $5,000 each to help prepare them for their future endeavors.

“In 2015, we took a stand to support education with the introduction of our Mission: HVAC program, through which we followed three HVAC students as they completed a year of trade school. During our conversations with students and educators about this program, and more recently about the Mission: Packaging program, it became clear that easy-to-access, reliable information about tape was lacking,” says Laura Pierce, senior media manager. “So, we decided to hit the issue head-on and created TapeUniversity.com to serve as an educational resource to answer the commonly asked questions about tape – as well as invite visitors to ask their own.”
