Boxed Water is Better, in partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) announces the official results of the 2016 ReTree Campaign, part of one of the largest tree planting commitments through the NFF. Boxed Water more than doubled its original 2016 goal of 200,000 trees by engaging with social media followers to commit to plant 430,156 trees. This is the second year of Boxed Water's five-year commitment in which they have a goal to plant a total of 1 million trees with the NFF by 2020. ReTree 2016 kicked off on Earth Day and ran through the end of Labor Day.

With the help of the National Forest Foundation, the trees committed to during the #ReTree program will be planted in U.S. National Forests in need of reforestation. This year's campaign drove commitments to plant trees all via a social media matching program. With the help of social media followers who posted a photo on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #ReTree, Boxed Water committed to planting two trees for each photo posted. A large portion of the trees committed during the 2016 campaign will support reforestation in the Custer-Gallatin National Forest in Montana, a region that lost nearly 500 acres of forest due to wildfire damage from 2012's Ash Creek Fire.

The NFF is the only conservation organization that is dedicated to supporting 154 National Forests and 20 Grasslands throughout the United States. In addition to forest restoration, the organization engages Americans in the health and public enjoyment of our National Forests.

"Boxed Water and the NFF are incredibly excited to announce that we more than doubled our initial goal for our 2016 campaign," says Matt DeWitte, vice president of marketing for Boxed Water. "This program would not exist, or be the success that it is without the individuals, retailer and distributor partners whom have taken the time to post, share and promote the ReTree project. As an organization that strongly believes in the bettering of our planet, it's truly inspiring to see the efforts of so many who want to also make a positive impact in our world."

"We are proud of our partnership with Boxed Water and pleased with the results of this year's ReTree program. This effort benefits the People's Land – the National Forest System – and improves their condition," Bill Possiel, NFF president says. "We especially appreciate all those who participated by sharing this program on social media to build awareness and advance this important effort. The success this year has helped build momentum for ReTree in the coming years."

Available in 500ml, 250ml, and 1 liter sizes, each Boxed Water carton is BPA free, and 100% recyclable, made using renewable paper from well-managed forests.
