With interest in America's native spirit at an all-time high, aged bourbons have captured the imaginations of whiskey enthusiasts, for whom learning about older whiskeys can be a window into the past and a uniquely fascinating sipping experience. To satisfy these discerning consumers, The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. today announced the fourth addition to its portfolio – Lost Prophet 22-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. was created in early 2014 to locate forgotten barrels of whiskey from around the world and share them with discerning adult fans, who are encouraged to sip slowly and responsibly. Lost Prophet follows three previous Orphan Barrel bourbon releases: Barterhouse 20-Year-Old, Old Blowhard 26-Year-Old and Rhetoric 20-Year-Old.
Lost Prophet (90.1 proof / 45.05% ABV) stocks were found in the Stitzel-Weller warehouses in Louisville, Ky., and distilled in 1991 in Frankfort, Ky. Beginning with a nose hinting of honey, dried fruit, apricot and clove, Lost Prophet has a silky, full bodied taste of spice cake, vanilla and leather, with a sweet, smoky finish. Lost Prophet will be on shelves in mid-December for a suggested retail price of $120.
Lost Prophet's packaging includes line illustrations, elaborate typography and ornate borders and frames. The deep black label and embossed gold design elements beautifully showcase the "lost lamb" on the center of the bottle and offer contrast to the beautiful amber liquid inside.
"Now is the perfect time to add Lost Prophet to The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co.," says Ewan Morgan, Orphan Barrel master of whiskey. "It makes a fantastic holiday gift for whiskey aficionados and will allow those who have already enjoyed our previous whiskeys to compare and contrast those with our newest release."
Lost Prophet, like the rest of the Orphan Barrel releases so far, was hand bottled in Tullahoma, Tenn. As was the case with Old Blowhard, a 26-Year-Old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey previously released by Orphan Barrel, Lost Prophet will be a one-time release.
The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. is headquartered in Tullahoma, Tenn. Like the other Orphan Barrel whiskeys, Lost Prophet has long awaited a place to call home. Orphan Barrel reminds consumers to enjoy its rare and delicious whiskeys responsibly.
