Founded by Robert Hoffer in 1953 and based in South Elgin, IL, Hoffer Plastics Corporation has been dedicated to building a company around its core values: Family, Integrity, Service and Trust. With its rich, 60-year history, strong growth record and forward thinking initiatives in sustainability and innovation, Hoffer Plastics has developed a reputation as a global supplier of precision, high-tech injection molds and molded parts for the packaging industry.
Hoffer Plastics offers in-house design assistance and development for brand owners seeking the most innovative and creative caps, closures and packaging for optimum differentiation and shelf appeal to consumers. As with all consumer products, we make safety a priority in our design objectives. Innovative products, such as Hoffer’s “Trust-t-Lok” line of packaging closures, were developed in close collaboration with customers from design through final production.
With 110 state-of-the-art injection molding presses ranging from 35-650 tons, the Company produces over 3 Billion plastic parts annually at its 365,000-square-foot facility. Using a unique “Focused Factory” concept developed by Robert Hoffer, Hoffer Plastics operates a “factory within a factory” concept, to ensure that every customer’s productivity requirements are met on time, all the time. Hoffer consistently receives an on-time customer delivery rating of 99%.
Hoffer Plastics’ sophisticated real-time quality management system overseen by skilled professionals who pride themselves on their experience and expertise in identifying, and being proactive in solving and preventing potential problems that might arise.
Assuring quality and productivity requirements is key to both Hoffer’s and our customers’ success, which is why we have an onsite co-generation power plant to augment local utilities in a power emergency situation and ensure our 24/7 operation needs are met.
Hoffer Plastics’ international footprint through selective alliances and partnerships means we service customers globally, offering manufacturing capabilities in Guaymas, Mexico, China and Singapore. Hoffer’s diversification over the past decade has helped the Company post consistent profitability and growth, outpacing the industry and its competitors while remaining debt-free. Investing roughly $1.5M annually in equipment and upgrades means that Hoffer Plastics provides the latest and most up-to-date manufacturing technology.
Hoffer Plastics is also widely considered an industry leader in environmental sustainability. Gretchen Hoffer Farb, Hoffer’s Supply Chain executive, serves on the Plastics Environmental Council, proving that environmental considerations are not just a fad but are a critical aspect of Hoffer’s vision.
As a good community partner, the Hoffer Foundation donates over $250M to local charities annually. The company partners with the Elgin area Chamber of Commerce and its ACT Work Keys skills assessment program to assess and pre-screen high school job applicants for potential employment.
Today, the “G3” (Third Generation) Hoffer leadership team is bringing forward new approaches to customer development, sourcing, marketing, manufacturing and innovation, poising the company – and its’ Fortune 500 customers – for a bright future of success in an increasingly competitive global environment.
