Brand design firm wins award for gin package design
Sandstrom Partners given Communication Arts’ Award of Excellence for Aviation Gin package design

Sandstrom Partners (www.sandstrompartners.com) has received an Award of Excellence from venerable design industry journal Communication Arts (CA), according to Sandstrom president Jack Peterson.
The award, which will be featured in this month’s CA Design Annual 54, was for Sandstrom’s brand and package design for Aviation Gin, the flagship product of Portland-based distillery House Spirits.
“CA’s Design Annual is one of the most respected competitions in our industry,” says Peterson. “It’s a special honor to share the recognition with another Portland company who truly appreciates the importance of package design.”
Of the 4,198 entries submitted to the 54th annual design competition, only 166 were selected by a jury of respected creative professionals, representing the work of 134 designers, design firms and in-house design departments.
Judges for the competition were: Liz Burnett, founding partner/creative director, The Matchbox Studio, Dallas TX; Richard Colbourne, creative director, Addison, New York, NY; Claire Dawson, co-founder/creative director, Underline Studio, Toronto, Canada; Jake Lefebure, co-founding partner/CEO, Design Army, Washington, DC; and Joel Templin, co-founder/creative director, Hatch Design, San Francisco, CA.
The selected projects are reproduced in Design Annual 54, the September/October 2013 issue of Communication Arts.
