xpedx (xpedx.com), a leading business-to-business distribution company in North America, has earned the ENERGY STAR® designation at its locations in Seattle, WA and Cleveland, OH. xpedx is an “ENERGY STAR partner” and is committed to responsible stewardship of natural resources.
The ENERGY STAR designation is only given to buildings scoring in the top 25% of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) energy performance rating system. The xpedx facilities in Seattle and Cleveland meet strict energy performance standards, use less energy, are less expensive to operate and cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than peer facilities.
“At xpedx, we strive to not only provide sustainable solutions to our customers, but also to maintain our own energy-efficient operations,” says David Wallace, xpedx director, Sustainability.
As an “ENERGY STAR partner,” xpedx is participating in a national call-to-action to improve the energy efficiency of America’s commercial and industrial buildings.
The Seattle and Cleveland sites combined have more than 270,000 square feet of space. Jedd Parker is the division manager of the Seattle location. “At xpedx, we want to protect the environment by continually improving our energy performance,” he says. “So earning the ENERGY STAR designation validates our efforts to operate a sustainable and energy-efficient facility.”
The Seattle and Cleveland locations are the first xpedx facilities to earn the ENERGY STAR designation this year. xpedx has established a goal to earn the ENERGY STAR in a total of seven facilities this year, and has already earned the ENERGY STAR at 20 locations since 2011.
