DuPont
Packaging Graphics(http://cyrel.dupont.com), one of the world’s
leading suppliers of flexographic printing systems in digital and conventional
formats, grabbed the attention of the printing world recently at the drupa 2012
print media fair in Duesseldorf, Germany, with next-generation
DuPont™ Cyrel® plates, equipment and workflow solutions that optimize
quality, productivity and sustainability.
“Advances in
the technology for equipment and plates, especially over the course of the last
15 or so years, have resulted in significant improvements to the quality,
productivity, and sustainability of flexography,” says Tracy Lunt, global
technology manager, DuPont Packaging Graphics. “DuPont creates solutions
that meet these needs simultaneously. Flexo is now not only globally
recognized as a fully competitive printing technology, but is the most popular
packaging printing process in several segments around the world. Flexo is no
longer an alternative; it’s a solution.”
One of the
show highlights was the DuPont press briefing which featured a keynote address,
presented by Matthias Heinzel, global business director, DuPont Packaging
Graphics, on “The State of the Package Printing Industry: Global Trends, Market
Needs and New Technologies.”
“Flexo
technology has seen tremendous improvements to satisfy ever-increasing quality
needs, and can now deliver the outstanding print quality that gravure is known
for at speeds that comply with the shorter lead times necessary to remain
competitive in today’s market,” says Heinzel. “As part of our approach to
constant and inclusive innovation, DuPont Packaging Graphics is continually
transforming new sustainability legislation and market-driven changes into
technological solutions. Doing so not only helps our customers maintain a
competitive edge, but also helps us contribute to our companywide commitment to
ensure sustainable growth and reduce the environmental footprint of the supply
chains in which we operate.”
DuPont
launched 11 new products at drupa, none of which were concepts or
prototypes. In response to growing demand for higher solid ink density
(SID), DuPont showcased new digital plate technologies - DuPont Cyrel DSP,
Cyrel FAST DFP and Cyrel FAST DFR - that achieve higher solid ink density while
maintaining high resolution, low dot gain and excellent run length. DuPont also
showcased new equipment technologies: DuPont Cyrel FAST 3000 TD system, DuPont
Cyrel DigiFlow 2000 EC and an enhanced complete Cyrel FAST round workflow to
demonstrate highest-quality precision printing for sleeve processing.
