Report: BPA exposure worse than believed
One of the leading scientific critics of bisphenol A (BPA) has ratcheted up the volume, claiming that hisnew studyshows that people are being exposed to it at a significantly higher rate than previously believed. Fredrick vom Saal, a biology professor at the University of Missouri, co-authored a recent study into the effects of consumption of BPA, an additive commonly used in some plastic bottles and linings for metal cans. The study claimed that tests on rodents provide “convincing evidence that BPA is dangerous to our health at current levels of human exposure” and “are relevant to predictions regarding the health effects of human exposure to BPA.” Vom Saal went on the claim that “further evidence of human harm should not be required for regulatory action to reduce human exposure to BPA.”
