The American
Institute for Packaging and the Environment (AMERIPEN;www.AMERIPEN.org) announced that four
additional companies in the packaging value chain have joined the organization
as Voting Members: Bemis Company, Inc., an international supplier of flexible
packaging and pressure-sensitive materials; DDL, a medical device product,
packaging and materials testing services company; Earth911, host of the
nation’s largest recycling directory, benefiting both consumers and companies;
and H.J. Heinz Company, a global producer and marketer of food products.
AMERIPEN's membership now numbers 29 companies.
The
organization has also announced that June 1 is now the deadline for new members
to join and be able to
participate in AMERIPEN's second Annual Meeting of Members. Companies
interested in AMERIPEN's actions are urged to join soon so that they can
participate in this event to influence the future of packaging and the
environment. Members in good standing have opportunities to provide input prior
to the meeting.
“I'd like to offer a sincere welcome to our
four new members, and I hope they will be active contributors to our
initiatives that are building a future where all production, distribution, and
consumption are sustainable," says AMERIPEN Executive Director Joan
Pierce. "I'd also like to urge all stakeholders in the packaging value
chain to take advantage of our extended deadline, and become members now so
that they can join this important work.”
The members
meeting will take place June 26-27 at the Waterview Conference Center in
Arlington, Virginia. The program will include a President's Report,
updates on the substantive progress made on the group's initiatives, a review
of progress in AMERIPEN collaborations with other groups, government affairs
discussions, and the election of officers for the coming year. The output of
this meeting will also set the agenda for AMERIPEN actions for the next year.
Membership materials are available on the
AMERIPEN website. AMERIPEN welcomes companies that support the philosophy of a
collaborative trade and industry organization, active and cooperative issue
resolution, and material and packaging system neutrality. Voting Membership is
open to all packaging value chain economic operators.
