MoonPie inspired coffee makes its debut.
Chattanooga
Bakery, Inc., baker of the iconic MoonPie® -- the southern delectable
consisting of two round graham cracker cookies with marshmallow filling in the
center, dipped in chocolate, vanilla or banana coatings – is partnering with
White Coffee Corporation to offer a line of MoonPie inspired flavored coffees.
The new line includes Chocolate, Vanilla, Banana and Mint, evocative of the
MoonPie® snack varieties.
"Chattanooga
Bakery has leveraged its MoonPie standard and now includes White Coffee in the
process," says Jonathan White, Executive Vice President of White Coffee
Corporation. "With a new packaging launch this summer and now a licensed
gourmet coffee, the brand is well-positioned to obtain even greater
success."
Nearly
a million MoonPies are produced every day and distributed throughout the U.S.
During the Great Depression, MoonPies found their place in Southern folklore as
part of the "working man's lunch" for coal miners and laborers alike
who desired a solid and filling snack.
MoonPie coffees are sold in
10-oz. bags featuring the bright, "retro" half-moon logo and
cherished cookie sandwich on the front. The four varieties are available
nationwide in retail outlets, or online at www.whitecoffee.com, at a suggested retail
price of $5.99-$6.99 per lb.
