Macfarlane Labels, a leading specialist in self adhesive and resealable labels, S & A Produce (UK) Ltd and Sampak Ltd have launched Macfarlane’s innovative packaging system, Reseal-it, onto strawberry packs in Tesco stores in the UK.
The packs tamper-proof resealable packs are easy to use and keep the strawberries in optimum condition, even if not all used at once. The reusable nature of the pack means that Tesco’s branded pack remains in the consumer’s fridge until the last strawberry has gone and reduces packaging waste.
Following rigorous testing and a trial period to ensure the Reseal-it system ran efficiently on S & A Produce’s high speed packing lines, the team developed the correct combination of printed re-sealable label and lidding film to create a tamper evident, consumer friendly and environmentally positive pack for soft fruit.
