New coke PET bottle has the classic contour shape.
Coca-Cola has rolled out 2-liter polyethylene terephthalate (PET) versions of Coke Classic and other brands that call to mind the classic contours of its glass bottles.
The PET bottle features ribs and tapering above the base reminiscent of the classic “Mae West” glass bottle. It also has a slightly inset waist to accommodate the label.
Coca-Cola rolled out the new PET bottle in Birmingham, Ala., and Chattanooga, Tenn., in mid-June. The company plans to bring out 2-liter PET bottles for Sprite, Fanta, Fresca and other brands that also are based on those brands’ signature glass bottles.
