Berry Plastics Group Inc. and AVINTIV Inc. have entered into a definitive agreement for Berry Plastics to acquire AVINTIV Inc. for approximately $2.45 billion in cash on a debt-free, cash-free basis.
According to a report from Mesirow Financial Investment Banking, 2014 was the biggest year of mergers and acquisitions in the packaging industry this side of the great recession – reaching a post-recession high of $29.9 billion.
All equipment is expected to be operational by September 2016 and the expansion is expected to create 94 new jobs.

Printpack has announced that it will close its Fredericksburg, Va., manufacturing plant. Production will be phased out over a period of months, and operations are expected to cease completely in the first quarter of 2016.
