Fargo Brewing Company Features Shelter Dogs on Can Labels

November 20, 2019

Fargo Brewing Company in North Dakota is collaborating with local rescue organization 4 Luv of Dog Rescue to place what they call "One-der dogs" into forever homes. Six dogs were chosen, named Nyx, Bizzy, Jensen, Hobie, Moby and Virginia. The brewery then held an event where customers could buy a six-pack of Fargo Original Larger for $9 while meeting one of the six-pack of dogs.

The brewery sold 25 of the 40 special cases it created with the hound-themed labels. Some of the sales will be donated to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue.

"Our One-der dogs are dogs that will live their best life in a home by themselves and there's no other pets, so they can be a little bit tougher to find homes for, foster homes, that type of thing," Jerad Ryan, a volunteer at 4 Luv of Dog, told CNN affiliate, KVRR. Ryan has no small part in this venture: His day job is at Northern Plains Label, which prints labels for breweries.

"I just had the light bulb-style idea to feature the dogs on beer cans," Ryan told CNN.

Dogs have long been featured on beer labels (and a number of brews have canine names). It's just nice to see that two passions: finding homes for shelter dogs, and the love of beer, can be so seamless.
