Flair Flexible Packaging’s Calgary facility has received Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000). The certification was awarded to Flair following the Stage 2 audit of the implementation and effectiveness of Flair’s Food Safety Management System. This included examining Flair’s management commitment, food safety team performance, internal and external communication, document control, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) implementation, as well as internal audits of verification and validation activities.
FSSC 22000 defines requirements for integrated processes that work together to control and minimize food safety hazards. The certification is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is based on ISO standards. The FSSC 22000 certification affirms that Flair’s Calgary facility manufactures flexible packaging products that meet the requirements of global food manufacturers and retailers under a single, internationally recognized food safety management system.
Flair pursued this voluntary certification as a critical component of its food safety culture and to emphasize its dedication to ensuring the quality and safety of products.
Commenting on the certification, Flair Vice President of Corporate Operations Cheryl Miller states, “This was a tremendous undertaking for Flair and I am very proud of all of the hard work that went into achieving this certification, particularly from our food safety task force.”
FSSC 22000 serves as a global benchmark of manufacturing integrity and provides food distributors, retailers, and consumers with assurance that the food safety management program Flair employs meets the highest standards. Successful implementation of programs such as FSSC 22000 and the HACCP process reflect Flair’s commitment to ensuring the safety and integrity of our production processes.
“We look forward to using this as a building block to further ensure our customers’ confidence in receiving quality, food safe products from Flair,” Miller continues.
