Harper Corp. of America hosted the March Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) membership meeting on March 24 to share an up-close look at some of the advanced technology used in the flexographic printing industry.

SME is a nonprofit organization that supports the promotion of advanced manufacturing technology and the professional development of skilled workers in the manufacturing industry.

Tony Donato, SME member and product development engineer at Harper, and Mark Jacques, Harper vice president of manufacturing operations, led a presentation on anilox roll technology at the meeting.

They provided a step-by-step demonstration on how anilox rolls are manufactured, and discussed the complexities of the process and how the type of pattern cut into each anilox roll is determined by the application.
