Technical service and applications development specialists Norm Aubee and Dan Ward of Nova Chemicals Corp. were honored during the 2016 TAPPI PLACE Conference, April 11-13, in Fort Worth, Texas, for their contributions to the flexible packaging industry.
Aubee was presented with the PLACE Division Leadership and Service Award and the Andreas Ahlbrandt Prize. According to TAPPI, this award recognizes Aubee’s outstanding leadership and exceptional service, which has resulted in significant and demonstrable benefits to PLACE Division members.
“Contributing to the PLACE division of TAPPI has been a great opportunity,” says Aubee. “The collaboration with our customers and our peers enables us to positively impact the future of flexible packing.”
Aubee has been a TAPPI member since 2004 and has served as an active member on several committees and has presented at many TAPPI PLACE conferences.
Ward received the 2014 Best Paper Award for “improving the accuracy and reliability of model used to predict multilayer packaging film properties.” The paper was selected for this award by attendees during the 2014 TAPPI PLACE conference and announced during the 2016 event.
“Multilayer packaging films are increasingly complex and difficult to predict,” said Ward. “Through our research, we are better able to predict barrier properties, which helps our customers reduce development costs and get products to market faster.”
