Montabaur,Germany-based Klöckner Pentaplast has been ranked in the top 8 percent of plastics manufacturing suppliers and in the top 12 percent of over twenty thousand suppliers evaluated by EcoVadis, an an independent rating agency that uses methods built on international corporate social responsibility standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000. 

In comparison within the plastics manufacturing industry, the company is ahead of the industry average in all four areas assessed: environment, labor practices, fair business practices, and responsible and sustainable procurement.  

“More and more CPGs are looking to partner with suppliers who share their CSR vision and commitment," says Patty Enneking, group director for sustainability and environmental affairs. "Klöckner Pentaplast’s EcoVadis ranking is evidence that KP is a top performing supplier." 

Klöckner Pentaplast is also among the top 5 percent of suppliers assessed in industry classification for environmental practices and in the top 9 percent of suppliers assessed in respective industry classification of fair business practices. 

Among the activities contributing to the favorable rating is the company's development of ClearFloat, a floatable label film for shrink sleeves. This film meets the APR and European PET Bottle Platform design for recycling guidelines to help facilitate the highest degree of post-consumer bottle recycling.

In 2015 Klöckner Pentaplast also opened the its first KPI center, a state-of-the art facility offering an expanded suite of consulting, design, stability and prototyping services for global pharmaceutical customers to bring products to market more quickly, economically and sustainably.

Additional centers are planned for Germany and Spain.
