Printpack will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year by completing several major initiatives including an investment of $25.7 million to expand its manufacturing operation in the city of Newport News, Virginia and the completion of a separate recapitalization program to advance equipment capabilities.
“We are pleased to be expanding our business in Virginia and are very appreciative of the support from the governor, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the city of Newport News,” says Jim Stevenson, director of operations-rigid at Printpack. “We decided to expand in Virginia largely because our well-established, capable workforce provides us a solid base of expertise to build upon."
The company's recapitalization program will expand its manufacturing capabilities with the addition of advanced technology and equipment.
“Printpack has shown amazing adaptability and longevity over the last 60 years in a market that is truly ever-changing,” says David Read, vice president of marketing and technology at Printpack. “A large part of that is our constant willingness to reinvest in our equipment and employees in order to deliver the best for our customers.”
Founded in 1956, Printpack is a $1.2 billion global firm. The company recently created a new type of interactive packaging for brands by applying photochromic ink to flexible film for the first time, producing a package with ink that remains invisible until exposed to sunlight.
Printpack has been honored by the Flexible Packaging Association, the Flexographic Technical Association, the Association of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators, and the Society of Packaging Handlers and Engineers.
