In October, Hood Packaging announced that four of its packaging facilities had reached Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 certification, stating that other plants were in the process of moving their food safety certification to the SQF program. The company has now announced that its Goose Creek, South Carolina plant is joining the club.

The SQF program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), as well as retailers and food service providers around the world, as being one of the most rigorous and credible food safety management systems in the marketplace today. To become SQF certified (Level 3), food manufacturers must follow a comprehensive system of food safety and quality designed by an SQF expert, submit to an annual audit by a SQF auditor and be certified by a licensed certification body.

“Achieving Level 3 certification demonstrates Hood’s commitment to our customers by meeting the most rigorous standards of food safety and quality.” says Pat Woods, general manager of Hood Packaging for the Goose Creek site.
