Velcro Companies has received the British Retail Consortium/Institute of Packaging certification, a global food packaging certification based on a set of standards that assists manufacturers and converters with adopting good manufacturing processes and management systems.
Velcro officials say the certification affirms the company’s adherence to a strict globally recognized standard for food packaging and is expected to speed the adoption of its PRESS-LOK closure system by food manufacturers.
“With this certification, our customers in the food manufacturing sector can be assured that Velcro Companies offers the highest safety and hygiene standards in the marketplace," says Scott Filion, president of Americas at Velcro Industries. "As a result, we expect more companies around the world to integrate the PRESS-LOK solution into their flexible packaging products.”
PRESS-LOK closures are manufactured at the Velcro Companies facility in Manchester, New Hampshire, which was evaluated to the BRC/IoP Standard and received the highest rating.
Velcro says the PRESS-LOK closure is a durable, easy-to-use fastening technology that was developed for the fast-growing flexible packaging market and enables consumers to achieve an effective seal without the need for tedious and precise line-up.
