New Era Converting Machinery has entered into a representative agreement with Plasto International LLC to have the company's director, German Laverde, represent them in Central and South America.

Plasto International LLC is a technology, business and marketing intelligence outsourcing suite with a focus on the plastics industry in the Americas. The agency offers a wide portfolio of resources that can, and has already successfully, helped numerous companies strengthen their position and push projects to the next level.

German Laverde is the Director of Plasto International. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from University of the Andes in Bogota, and an MS in plastics engineering from University of Massachusetts – Lowell, and has 30 years of experience in the plastics industry, including time at Exiplast and Plastilene in Colombia and Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering in the USA. German has been published and has presented at ANTEC, TAPPI, AMI and other conferences worldwide, has chaired the SPE’s Flexible Packaging Division and is currently a member of the SPI’s NPE Operations Committee. He is extremely invested in the plastics industry, particularly in Latin America, and New Era hopes that his strong presence in that market will help drive an increased presence for them there.

“We’re very excited to bring German on board,” said Paul Lembo, vice president of New Era. “He is a real professional whose experience in the industry, and in the Central and South American regions in particular, will prove to be a major addition to our presence there.”
