Constantly, I’m getting updates and factual research that says the flexible packaging industry is only growing, only capturing more market share, only becoming more and more successful. I would imagine, if you’re a part of this industry, that you are doing a happy dance as you read this column.
But now is not the time to rest on your laurels and point to your accomplishments. Now is the time to ramp up your game, push for more, and continue that growth. It would seem that’s what our Cover Story’s company did. Berry Plastics, a well-known name in the packaging industry, has had literally an average of 30 acquisitions over the past 30 years. They started out as a company of three whole employees, now employing 15,500 people around the world, grossing $5 billion. How did they do it? They have revamped and reworked and reorganized. And, as you read in the Cover Story, it shows (click here to read).
We have so many other features in this issue, which is also distributed at Pack Expo Las Vegas. We have a very interesting article on CPGs (here), and M&A Activity in the packaging market (more positive news here!). Read about pouch options here. Trail-blazing label techniques are highlighted in the articles here and here. And be sure to read about how the Food Safety Modernization Act is impacting our industry, here.
Here is my hope while I compiled this issue: That you’ll be able to take this information, apply it to your own company’s operations, and do nothing but succeed. That’s all I want for you, and for this industry.
Be sure to say “Hey!” if you see me walking the show floor. Until then…
Sincerely,
