So many outside factors can really put a wrench in your plans, no matter what kind of plans they are. Fortunately, our industry continues to ride the wave of innovation and thrive in an otherwise sluggish economy. Plans may need tweaking or even changing, but overall, we as an industry are doing well, continue to grow, and continue to innovate.

Flexible Packaging Jan/Feb coverThis month’s cover story discusses innovation in our industry, The 2014 Executive Forecast. Five industry leaders respond to my questions about their view of the industry for the year ahead, potential trends they see shaping up, and innovations that could be around the bend.

Our Printing section covers how the Digital realm of printing can help better plan a packaging prototype (view this article here). The Technology section of this month’s issue, featured here, features a brand new technology for the Inks industry that is sure to take off. Our Industry Insights column features Packaging Trends, including the three main packaging types that are sure to demonstrate strong growth.

The monthly Special Advertisers Section offers a Roundtable on Blown Film Extruders, who offer their insight on trends, what their customers are requesting, as well as requests that they have for their suppliers. We have a good Q&A on Slitting/Rewinding, highlighting troubleshooting tips and things to remember.

I just want to say congratulations on a great 2013, and for helping Flexible Packaging magazine reach the end of another great year. As the industry continues to grow, so does our publication, and my sincerest hope is that you find our content informative and helpful. We are here to be your platform to the flexible packaging industry, and to bridge you to your customers and suppliers.

Thanks again, and the very best of luck in 2014!!

Sincerely,
Erin J. Wolford
