Flexographic Technical Association has opened registrations for its 2014 Fall Conference and Tabletop Exhibit, “Beyond the Concept: Innovation in Action.” The event will take place Oct. 20-22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Minneapolis.

Under the leadership of conference chairs PJ Fronczkiewicz, Flint Group Flexographic Products and Bill Malm, Flexo Wash, the conference will explore the recent and most transformative innovations in the flexographic marketplace and how such advancements contribute to greater process control, waste reductions, productivity increases and shorter make-ready times.

The two and one half day agenda features the following sessions:
  • Process of Innovation
  • Indirect Flexo
  • FIRST 5.0 and Certification
  • Innovation and the Image Carrier (Parts I, II and III)
  • 2014 Technical Innovation Technology
  • Printed Electronics
  • RFID to Manage Plate Storage
  • Innovation & Expanded Gamut
“Over the last several years we have seen a sea of remarkable ideas come ashore in our industry, especially in prepress and plate technologies,” says Fronczkiewicz. “In many cases and for many printers, radical improvements in print quality can now be accomplished with ease. It’s interesting to hear presentations of newly available technologies, but it can be difficult to trim away the marketing “fluff” from the real usefulness of these products. So our focus will be on drilling down to the application level, demonstrating how these innovations are actually working in the field. Anyone in the market for these technologies will be able to hear how others are truly putting them to use, and see if there’s a match.”

In addition to the sessions, a dedicated exhibitor area will feature the latest technological advancements in products, software and services from more than 50 of flexography’s cutting edge thinkers and crafters. The exhibits will be open during conference breaks, lunches and evening receptions.

Anyone with a mind for innovation, including printers/converters, suppliers, prepress providers, consumer product companies, designers, graphics firms, educators and students of all stripes should make it a priority to attend. Last year’s event drew a record crowd with final attendance numbers signifying a 10 percent increase of the prior year.
