Kendall Packaging Corp., a provider of high-quality flexible packaging products serving a variety of markets inside the food-, personal-care- and pet-food industries, will host the official grand opening of its expanded Jefferson, Wis., facility Fri., May 9.

The event will include an appearance by Wis. Gov. Scott Walker, who will take a tour of the 56,000-square-foot addition and address attendees.  Eric Erickson III, Kendall Packaging president and chief executive officer, will also make remarks.  Plant tours will travel throughout the expanded facility, including the area where presses will be operating.

The expansion, which commenced in the spring of 2013 and was completed in November 2013, has increased the plant’s production capacity and doubled the storage capacity.  Features of the expanded production facility include:
  • new lamination capabilities
  • new slitting and finishing equipment
  • complete press sleeve storage system to compliment a10-color W&H Miraflex press installed in late 2012
  • a new quality assurance lab
  • skylights to reduce energy consumption
  • an employee fitness room
“The addition to our Jefferson production facility is representative of the sustained growth our company has achieved over the past several years,” says Erickson.  “By expanding our capacity and enhancing production capabilities, we can more efficiently fulfill our customers needs and strengthen our standing as a leader in the flexible packaging industry.”

The addition to the Jefferson facility comes after the successful launch of Kendall’s natural cheese, fresh/frozen vegetable and pet food product lines, as well as the installation of new presses in the company’s production facilities in Jefferson and Pittsburg, Kan.  The expansion aligns with Kendall’s commitment to invest in its facilities and equipment in order to improve efficiencies and work flows.
