Menges Roller Co. says that it is now positioned to offer comprehensive turnkey heat transfer products. Menges will now represent Delta T Systems – a leading manufacturer of chillers & temperature control systems – and Paratherm, a respected name in heat transfer fluids.
Company officials say these partnerships will support Menges’ flagship line of high-performance heat transfer rolls. Menges has signed sole representation contracts with Delta T Systems to supply chillers and temperature control units which cool / heat the fluids used in Menges’ liquid-filled heat transfer rollers. And Paratherm has signed a similar agreement allowing Menges Roller to offer its line of thermal transfer fluids to the converting sector.
Through offering these components, Menges gains stronger control over the functionality of its products in the field and delivers a convenient “one-stop” point of purchase for converters seeking comprehensive heating and cooling solutions.
Matthew Menges, president of Menges Roller, says, “Delta T Systems offers an outstanding product line with very high standards. Customers always ask if we handle the machines that heat or cool the fluids that are pumped through our heat transfer rolls. We looked at many suppliers and were impressed with Delta T Systems’ president, people and operations…and of course their equipment. They have an outstanding line of standard equipment, but most importantly Delta T Systems can build the custom systems our customers require for today’s cutting-edge converting processes.”
“We get much of our business from customers with heat transfer rollers that are not working properly because they used the wrong type of heat transfer fluid or didn’t maintain it," adds Menges. "Paratherm is one of the most respected names in heat transfer fluid, outperforming a lot of bigger-name competitors. So not only do we have a partner here that’s forward thinking and innovative, but their products work perfectly with ours. We can now offer customers thermal transfer fluids that exactly match their roller and process specifications.”
Heat transfer rollers can be difficult to completely understand. Engineers must calculate the roll dimension and linespeed coefficient; work in the heater or chiller data; then try to choose a thermal transfer fluid chemistry that meets their application’s required process temperature. It can be a time-consuming process, and expensive, if a mistake is made, officials say.
These developments fit with Menges’ 2013 announcement to expand its engineering and thermal modeling department.
Utilizing advanced CFD (computational fluid dynamics), the Menges engineering team can simulate and predict the performance of heat transfer rolls in processing situations. Now, with stronger control over thermal fluid temperature (Delta T Systems), and utilization of proven thermal fluid chemistry (Paratherm), Menges engineers can design cohesive solutions that are rock-solid reliable and built to perform at a very high level.
