The Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association and the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, owner of Pack Expo International, have agreed to hold the third AIPIA World Congress during Pack Expo International at McCormick Place, Chicago on November 2-5.

“This is one of the top two events on the global packaging calendar and is a fantastic location for our next event,” says Eef de Ferrante, director of AIPIA. “It confirms the status the Congress has already achieved and will bring a new dimension to this world class event. The rise of active and intelligent packaging, A&IP, is reflected in this agreement,” he adds.

Located at McCormick Place, Pack Expo International and the newly collocated Pharma Expo is expected to attract 50, 000 visitors to see 2000 exhibiting companies across 1.2 million square feet (over 111,000 sqm) of stand space. Pack Expo International has become the No. 1 event for both processing and packaging technologies and has undergone continued expansion and development over the last decade, even during the global economic slowdown, one of which is the launch of the new Pharma Expo, a partnership with the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).

Commenting on the agreement Charles D. Yuska, PMMI president and CEO says, “Pack Expo International is a great showcase for the latest packaging developments. So it is a logical step to incorporate the AIPIA Congress which addresses some very exciting and cutting-edge technologies in the packaging world. A&IP is taking packaging into new areas, which both our exhibitors and visitors need to be aware of. ”

“The first-class conference facilities at McCormick Place will enable us to lay on a bigger and better Congress than ever before, and in a heartland of the packaging industry,” states de Ferrante. “We are very excited by the prospect of holding the Congress in the USA for the first time and could not have chosen a better partner than PMMI.”

The Congress will run from Sunday through Tuesday (November 2-4) and will incorporate a display area as well as main conference room for up to 400 people and break out areas for the specialist presentations which have already become an established feature of the AIPIA event. The delegates can tour more of Pack Expo on Wednesday at their own pace. Complementary registration to Pack Expo 2014 will be provided by PMMI for all AIPIA conference participants.
