Schutz and All-emballage joint venture

Schütz Nordic and the Swedish reconditioner All-emballage have started working together in a partnership. The new joint venture sees Schütz Nordic, based in Kongsvinger, Norway, particularly strengthening the company’s position in the IBC and reconditioning segment as the market-leading supplier of industrial packaging solutions in the Nordic countries.

Norway and Sweden have a combined area of around 774,000 square kilometres, making it the largest peninsula in Europe. Until now, all Schütz IBC collection and reconditioning services the Nordic countries have been provided exclusively by the Schütz factory in Kongsvinger. The Schütz Nordic site is located 100 kilometres to the north-east of Oslo. In August 2011, it relocated to a larger adjacent site and was modernised at the same time, including the installation of new production technology.

More than 70 Years of Expertise in Recycling

All-emballage was founded in 1940 and originally started out recycling steel drums and canisters. In 2000, Jonas Esping took over the company and established it as a specialist for IBC reconditioning. Since then, Schütz’s new Swedish joint venture partner has grown to become one of the biggest companies in this segment in the Nordic region.

Effective immediately, both companies will be working together to recondition used containers. The alliance with the Swedish reconditioner enables Schütz to meet the increasing market demand in this region. Schütz is also extending its service portfolio, and in addition to classic reconditioning and inner bottle replacement will now also be providing washing and other disposal services. The cooperation, in which Schütz is the majority shareholder, sees the two companies collaborating very closely: Jonas Esping will continue to manage All-embalage’s business in the position of General Manager.

Together with Schütz, the IBC services will now be extended and enhanced, providing additional advantages to customers and businesses dropping off empty containers.

Mastering complex logistical challenges together

The joint venture allows Schütz to realign the company’s logistics in Scandinavia: the specific geography of the region, with it countless islands, fjords and mountain ranges, poses considerable challenges for freight transport. Now, Schütz can continue to guarantee the swift collection and reconditioning of used containers. Shorter transport routes also help to cut back costs and generate less CO2 emissions, which helps to protect the environment. “The cooperation between All-emballage in Haninge, a small town in the Swedish province of Stockholm, and Schütz Nordic perfectly combines both environmental and economic aspects”, says Erik Platek, General Manager Schütz Nordic.
