Starlinger donates circular loomsAustrian machinery manufacturer Starlinger & Co. GmbH donates two Starlinger alpha 6 circular looms to Naci Topçuoğlu Vocational School, the vocational branch of Gaziantep University.

“Turkey is one of the world’s most important suppliers of woven packaging, with many producers located in and around the city of Gaziantep. Since we have been supplying machinery to Turkey for more than 30 years, it is a logical step to give students who will later work in this industry the possibility to train on the newest equipment,” says Angelika Huemer, managing partner and CEO of Starlinger & Co GmbH.

Turkey – A Stronghold of the Woven PP Bag Industry

The Starlinger alpha 6 looms are designed to produce fabric out of polypropylene/poly-ethylene tapes, which are used for woven plastic packaging production. Gaziantep is a major production center for woven PP fabric and machine-made carpets, and covers around 50 percent of the total bag production volume of Turkey, which amounts to a value of $500 million.

“Turkey is one of the most important markets for Starlinger”, confirms Huemer. “Not only do we have many long-time customers here; Turkish woven sack producers are always interested in innovations and many of our latest machine developments go to Turkey first.”
