The efficacies of new and emerging resource recovery technologies identified through the Identification and Assessment of Available Technologies for Materials and Energy Recovery from Flexible Packaging Waste study were analyzed in a series of pilot tests. Pre-consumer flexible packaging waste was successfully utilized in the pilots, which examined microwave pyrolysis, gasification, thermal pyrolysis, and engineered solid fuel technologies. The results of the tests are detailed in the Flexible Packaging Resource Recovery Alternatives to Landfill Pilot Program Report.
