FPA commissioned Columbia University’s Earth Engineering Center to explore and identify the most promising resource recovery technologies for flexible packaging. The study assessed the economic and environmental costs and benefits of several technologies including microwave pyrolysis, gasification, thermal pyrolysis, and engineered solid fuel. Results of the study are available in the Identification and Assessment of Available Technologies for Materials and Energy Recovery from Flexible Packaging Waste Report.
