Cortec’s EcoSonic VpCI-125 Static Dissipative Film & Bags are designed to protect sensitive electronics against static and corrosion. Static damage can take place simply when moving an electronic across the production floor or putting it in a bag. Corrosion can attack during overseas shipment or under fluctuating humidity.
The company says that EcoSonic VpCI-125 Static Dissipative Film and Bags are distinctive in their ability to prevent corrosion and ESD (electrostatic discharge) damage. The film combines multi-metal corrosion protection with static dissipative properties. ESD properties conform to MIL-PRF-81705 E:
- Surface resistivity between 105 and 1012 Ω
- Static decay rate <2 seconds
Cortec VpCI films and bags replace conventional rust preventatives such as oils and desiccants, allowing the product to be used immediately without cleaning or degreasing. Vapor phase corrosion inhibitors embedded in the film and bags vaporize and condition the atmosphere inside the package to protect void and recessed areas. These vapors form a protective molecular layer that does not need to be cleaned off the surfaces of metal components to which it attaches. EcoSonic VpCI-125 is suitable for PCBs and other electronic parts because it protects a variety of metals:
- Steel
- Copper, alloys
- Aluminum, alloys
- Brass
- Solder
- Nickel
EcoSonic VpCI-125 Static Dissipative Film & Bags are designed to be user-friendly and compatible with electronics. They do not contain free amines or harmful Prop 65 ingredients. Nor do they affect optical properties, plastics or the solderability of PCBs or parts.
EcoSonic VpCI-125 Static Dissipative Film & Bags are recommended for packaging integrated circuits, printed circuit boards, PCB components, telecommunications equipment, electronic and electrical panels, and enclosures. They are designed to present a simple solution for adding an extra layer of static and corrosion protection in process, in storage or in shipment to ensure that the end user gets the materials in like-new condition to avoid premature failure from an undetected defect. Protection is intended to be as easy as placing the PCB or other electronic in a bag and zipping or sealing it shut.
EcoSonic VpCI-125 Static Dissipative Film & Bags come in custom-sized bags, film or tubing with thicknesses ranging from 2-6 mils (50-150 microns). They are also available as EcoSonic VpCI-125 HP Permanent ESD Film & Bags, a high-performance version for extended protection and maximum durability.
