Thirty years ago, Soltvadkert, Hungary-based Material Plastik opened its doors with nothing more than a plastic extruder and four employees. Today, more than 120 workers operate its converting equipment to provide packaging for CPGs such as Nestlé and Coca-Cola, among others.
“Ever since our first day in business, the goal of Material-Plastik has been to achieve continuous growth, covering all aspects of the company’s operation,” says Attila Nemeth, Material Plastik’s sales manager and head of technical support. “This involves establishing an ideal site, employing well trained staff, acquiring and using the latest technology and equipment, and creating and maintaining good relationships and communications with all our clients.”
Though Material Plastik has grown so significantly in a relatively short period of time since opening for business, it hasn’t been without its fair share of challenges. And one seemingly insignificant challenge — static generation — was one battle the company had to take on to streamline production and deliver a high-quality product. As part of the company’s commitment to investing in and acquiring the latest technology and equipment, Material Plastik has made it a point to invest in the right static control applications for its production lines. For Material Plastik, the Hyperion 924IPS short-range and Hyperion 929IPS mid-range anti-static bars have proven to be the ideal solution.
“Static charges are a big problem for consumer packaging manufacturing – but this can be easily solved with the right technology,” notes Nemeth, who says the bars are utilized on all of the company’s extrusion and printing lines.
According to Nemeth, both static control solutions are able to offer just what the company needs. With the 924IPS, Nemeth notes its compact footprint and Ion Current Monitoring technology for performance monitoring. Along with the 929IPS, both solutions are easy to install and integrate into existing converting machinery.
When it comes to flexible packaging and label-making, certainly the right presses and lines matter. But when it comes to creating plastic products, it’s the little things – like static control – that cannot be ignored as well.
“There are many ways plastic foils can be utilized,” Nemeth says. “They are used by the food industry, the packaging industry and in commerce as well. Due to their technical characteristics and the appealing look of the wrapped end-product, plastic foils are ideal for packaging electronic equipment and making gift wrappings. Plastic-based products are, and will continue to be, market-leading products in Hungary.”
It’s plastic’s versatility that has helped spur Material Plastik’s growth – and it’s the right solutions that will continue it.
