Worldwide Dispensers of North America, part of DS Smith, Plastics Division, announced today the completion of the expansion of its injection molding facility located in Lester Prairie, Minnesota.

The $4-million investment has increased the factory’s manufacturing footprint and site capabilities by 25,000 square feet, with the addition of high-precision injection molding machines, sub-assembly equipment and warehouse space.

The expansion also features the addition of a new product development laboratory equipped with advanced computer aided design, 3D printing and other equipment aimed to improve product development cycle performance and provide customers with rapid development of custom-design solutions.

The 80,000-square-foot consolidated manufacturing facility and optimized floor layout provides improved operations flow, manufacturing efficiencies and safety for employees. The expansion demonstrates DS Smith Plastics’ determination to offer customers unrivalled new product development, service level and quality.

“The completed expansion of our Lester Prairie location provides the opportunity to further develop our current capabilities and support the future growth of our liquid dispensing products,” says Mark Kurtzweg, general manager of Worldwide Dispensers, North America. “We are pleased that the project was completed on time and in budget, especially during Minnesota’s harsh winter months.”

Occupancy of the new area, including machinery relocation, will take place in the coming weeks. Final touches will be completed on the exterior of the building this spring. An opening ceremony is scheduled for June 2018.
